Already-Retired Income Calculator

Most of FedHorizon's tools project a pension you haven't started yet. If you're already retired, this is simpler: type in the real numbers from your OPM annuity statement, TSP, SSA, and VA award letter, and see them combined into one monthly total.

Data current as of 2026 · Sources: OPM · SSA · VA · TSP.gov

What this doesn't model: Gross income by source with FEHB subtracted — not a net-of-tax figure. Federal tax, state tax, and Medicare Part B aren't deducted. Every figure is a direct entry from your own statements, not computed or projected.

Why this tool is different

Almost every other calculator on this site works forward from your salary and years of service to project a pension you haven't started collecting yet. If you're already retired, that's the wrong direction — you already know your real annuity amount from OPM. This tool works backward from your actual statements instead of projecting anything, which is simpler and more accurate for anyone already drawing federal retirement income.

What this doesn't do

This deliberately stops at gross income with your FEHB premium subtracted — it doesn't model federal or state tax withholding, or Medicare Part B once you turn 65. For a TSP withdrawal amount to plug in here, the TSP Withdrawal Calculator can help you land on a number using the 4% rule, RMDs, or a fixed monthly draw.

A deeper look at your retirement income, including taxes is one input. Your full report combines pension, supplement, survivor election, and FEHB into one decision.
